The 10-Frame Film-Diet Photo Dare
Digital cameras let you fire off a hundred shots and pick the one that worked. That's the easy route. This dare takes it away from you — you get just ten frames for the entire day.
The rules:
- Ten frames. That's it. No re-takes, no second chance, no "okay, one more."
- You can spread them across the day however you like, but once you count ten, you're done.
- Every frame must count. If you're not sure, that's a waste of a frame — so think first.
Constraint isn't the enemy of creativity. It IS the creativity.
Here's why this works: the moment you can't rely on volume, you start seeing. You wait for the light. You move your feet instead of your thumb. You stop snapping and start photographing.
Ways to play it this week:
- Strict mode: all ten frames must be different subjects.
- Short-story mode: ten frames that form one tiny narrative.
- Discipline mode: five frames before noon, five after — no borrowing.
It feels wasteful at first, then it feels freeing. Post your best three under #DarePicz and tell us what the other seven became. Take the dare — ten frames won't kill you. Probably.
